Ceremony (2022-ongoing)
I was recently invited by a French museum to teach a four-day workshop to a group of children between the ages of 6 and 11. We took pictures that were 'wrong' like John Baldessari, made masks like Saul Steinberg, and there was a lot of laughing and singing.
Things really got going when we looked at Max Pam, Jim Goldberg, Carolle Benitah and others who've successfully elevated their images through drawing, painting, stitching and writing. I gave each child a stack of photos from my own archive and they got to work.
